No Sign of Smoke

In this painting at least. This is from the top of Bussey Hill in the Arboretum and it wasn’t until we rode our bikes down the hill that we realized there was a bit of a haze in the air. For the rest of the day, of course, the smoke drifting in from Canada was front and center. It was still a nice day-off, but it was certainly a little different than we’re used to. At point visibility was down to a couple of miles. Considering how nice the day was, that’s basically insane.

Here’s the painting:

Watercolors are fun. I’m just sayin’

How crazy was the smoke? Here’s the view from Peter’s Hill at sunset:

The view from peter's hill in the arboretum. Maybe 2 miles visibility.

Normally, you can see the entire Boston skyline. The Hancock building is only 4 miles away from Peter’s Hill. You couldn’t even begin to make it out. I’m guessing there was less than 2/3 miles of visibility at that point. Again, insane.
