Movies 2007 #1 Thank You for Smoking

Thank You for Smoking (Widescreen Edition): Really pretty good. It’s a crisp film, clever and well written.

I’m aiming for a lot more than 53 films this year by the way. Of course, I’m still looking for #2 this year and I’m creeping up on a week, but I swear I’m going to pick up the pace. I’ve got a couple of Kurosawa films to get through over the weekend, and I might hit a Mizoguchi double feature next weekend, so hopefully we’ll be looking at 2,3 and more come Monday and a half dozen by next week. I’m really feeling geeked on film today (I mentioned Sven Nyqvist, Bergman and the Auteur Theory in a conversation today at work) so I’m hoping I can keep that feeling going through a few big time weeks of film viewing.
