Interested in Boston's Architecture?

You are? I’ve got two resources for you:

WBUR’s Boston by Design is a fascinating radio tour of the city, with an excellent online companion site. I caught an episode tonight and it’s so good it’s keeping me from sitting down and watching the Patriots… Past present and future are discussed and it’s already heightened my understanding of the city- including some stories I know pretty well like the construction of the Southwest Corridor Park.

Part of my receptiveness to the show is due to the fact that I’ve been reading the AIA Guide to Boston off and on for the past week. It’s an easily digestible, granular guide to the buildings in the city. For someone like me who already knows the city at a really personal, detailed level*, getting the professional’s opinion and insight is pure intellectual joy.

*I’ve spent so many days and nights exploring the city on foot, I’ve often thought about quitting my various day jobs and just giving personal tours of the city. Want a tour of Boston’s rock and roll history? I’m your man. Brahmin hot spots? I’ve got you covered there too.
