Books 32 Ring

Ring by Koji Suzuki. Good stuff, although it’s more of a detective story than anything else. The bone chilling Lovecraftian horror of the movie isn’t really to be found here. Not necessarily a bad thing, of course, it’s just different. The tone isn’t the only difference actually. Most of the story beyond the “secret stuff” is different. The main character is a man, he’s married, his partner in the investigation is still a philosophy professor, but he definitely cuts a different path, etc. The differences helped to keep me interested. Very cool.
