We went down to the race yesterday and we had a complete blast. The racing was fun for both the men and the women and the crowds were strong and enthusiastic. I bet it’ll take off, just based on the results from the first year. Kudos to Mayor Menino and Boston’s “bike czar” Nicole Freedman and all the sponsors for a great event.
Congrats to Tina Pic and Kyle Wamsley for their respective wins.
I took some photos and a little video.
But first, some local TV coverage:

This is exactly what Boston needs! With a cycling community as large as the one in New England, there couldn’t be a more fitting event held on the streets of Boston. By just walking through the crowded streets, it was clear that this race attracted both, cyclists and tourists alike. I can’t wait for next year.

That’s a good point- truly one of the best things for me was seeing tourists and people from the area just happen upon the race and be blown away by how exciting it was.

Loved It I’ve traveled miles to watch racing. Now it’s here. Had a great ride this morning at the H.O.W. let’s make it a cycle town. Reads -Hearts of lions -It’s about the history of bike racing in the USA.

Tell me about it. The last race I was at was the Giro! This is a little easier to get to (although I’ll never complain about finding myself in Italy.)

So bummed I missed this (was in NY for a family function). Really hope this just gets bigger next year.

Nicole Freedman was quoted today saying they only had 4 months to plan for this race so I’m sure it’ll be even bigger next year. The solid prize money will definitely help.
