While I’ve enjoyed them all so far, Darkness, Take My Hand is easily my favorite of the Kenzie/Gennaro novels. It’s tense, creative and relentlessly awful. I know that’s maybe not the most appealing description, but it’s apt and the tough tone of these books is really part of the appeal.
They don’t get tougher than this. Here, they take on a serial killer. I’d hate to spoil any of the twists and turns in this novel, so I’ll cut the precis short, but suffice it to say it’s a real barn-burner. I think I read this one in about 36 hours. Considering my schedule, that’s quite an accomplishment and I was halfway tempted to take the day off just to finish it in shorter order.
I’ll be bummed when I finish the last of these novels (which will happen tonight or tomorrow night.)
