Holiday Inn A great film and a prime example of the musical genre. Of additional note, the song “White Christmas” made its debut in this 1942 classic. Keep that in mind when watching it and try to imagine what your reaction would have been, sitting in a war-time theater, when Bing Crosby starts in on it for the first time.
The following clip is a perfect illustration of what to expect from this film. While it doesn’t feature the one of the incredible holiday themed costume numbers (blackface alert for Lincoln’s birthday) it does feature the love triangle at the heart of the plot, some sharp dialog and the really important parts: Bing Crosby singing and Fred Astaire and Marjorie Reynolds dancing.
