If I could, I would take a week off starting Monday and just re-read the Harry Potter books from start to finish. Maybe one year for a staycation, I’ll do just that.
Anyway, I picked up The Tales of Beedle the Bard as an impulse buy and I’m now convinced that JK Rowling could milk me, and millions like me, for money whenever she felt like for the rest of her days.
And I mean that in the best way possible. If she were to release even a slim tome like this every couple of years, even one that offered only slight glimpse back into the world of Harry Potter, I would dutifully buy them and I’d be fiending in between each entry.
The Tales of Beedle the Bard is set-up as an in-continuity book of children’s tales with commentary by Albus Dumbledore. There’s one very specific tie-in with the plot of the seventh novel. Other than that there’s nothing too meaty here.
Still, the stories themselves are pretty cool and Dumbledore’s commentary is fun if just for being a new instance of his voice in print.
Well worth checking out if you’re a fan of the series.

I’m in the same boat as you. I would gladly buy anything she writes, Harry Potter or not. I got “Tales” for Christmas and I cannot wait to read it. The only books I don’t yet have are “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them” and “Quidditch Through the Ages” – I suppose I should put those on my wishlist for the future.
Just out of curiosity, do you have a favorite in the series?

Tough one, but I’m still partial to Prisoner of Azkaban. I have to re-read the last three to make a fair comparison though. Especially Order of the Phoenix.
