Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (Two-Disc Special Edition) (Harry Potter 1) I was planning on going to see Order of the Phoenix last weekend, but since my life is all fucked up time wise I was unable. Still, I was able to, over the past couple of weeks, re-watch the rest of the films. With this, I was reminded of just how magical the first book really was. We’re all hardened veterans of the Harry Potter universe now, with our occlumency and elder wands and the like, so it’s difficult to remember how new, mysterious and, yes, magical it all seemed. The scene at Ollivanders especially brought that home. It was truly filled with wonder and the ominous choice of Harry’s wand is just a tiny little glimpse into the torrent of drama to come. Compare that to the broad, honest, and downright painful scenes with Ollivander later on and the difference becomes clear.
Daniel Radcliffe, by the way? He’s really come a long way.
