The teams for the Giro d’Italia were announced this week and, Puerto or no Puerto I’m excited as heck for the next three weeks. Why?
- With no Basso, the race is going to be wide open. Even without Ivan there are four former winners in the race, so it’s going to be an interesting couple of weeks. Hopefully people will be a little more aggressive than they were in the Tour last year under similar circumstances.
- George Hincapie is going to be riding, which will be interesting to watch. I’m hoping he has a chance to win a stage at some point.
- McEwen v. Petacchi v. Hushovd v. JJ Haedo. I’m psyched to see Haedo up against the big boys in a grand setting like this and watching the rest of them duke it out is always fun.
Let’s hope all the kinks of cycling.tv’s new interface are worked out before this weekend.
