Movies 2007 #23 – Cure

Cure My first Kiyoshi Kurosawa film. Interestingly, with Babel this was a Koji Yakusho double feature. If you’re not keeping track he’s the star of one of my favorite 90s Japanese film, Shall We Dance.

Anyway, this film is pretty good. It’s a little slow at times, which was a problem since I watched it late at night, but the overall result was really pretty good. It’s an intelligent film that takes a simple enough premise (the power of hypnosis) and expands it into an interesting, occasionally gripping feature.
