Le Cercle Rouge (The Red Circle): Typically brilliant Melville crime drama. Melville/Delon forge the very definition of cool.
Night Watch: A fun, creative, stylish film. Definitely looking forward to the second installment.
Fearless: Well now. I’m not sure when a martial arts film last exhilarated me like this one did. Maybe Ong Bak, but that was soooo one-dimensional it almost doesn’t count. The fights in Fearless aren’t the equal of Ong Bak (but what fights are?) but they are fantastic in the best modern hybrid style (“real” martial arts + wires + CGI) and the film, as a “film”, is just incredible. I’ll have a proper review of this when it comes closer to being released, but … wow.
