Dark Water. Does anyone in the world make creepier films than Hideo Nakata? The man is a freakin’ goose bumps generating GENIUS. This film isn’t the equivalent of Ringu (not that anything is,) but it is another incredible, creepy, mood piece. I would pay good money to see Nakata adapt a Lovecraft story. In his hands stories like “The Shadow Over Innsmouth,” “The Dreams in the Witch House” or “The Colour Out of Space” would literally drive people to madness.
