An Event Apart Boston Day #1

The first day of the show was a lot of fun. Interesting, entertaining and generally thought provoking the event was as good as I’d hoped. If pressed, I’d say Jared Spool and Luke Wroblewski had the best presentations, both were equal parts fun and informative, but picking any favorites out of such a strong bunch is really splitting hairs.

Let’s just say I can’t wait until tomorrow.

Just look at this contented face:

There was a lot of good information shared and a couple of ideas will see almost immediate action here on the site. Others will work their way into the DrunkenFist.com 10th anniversary redesign due July 19, 2009.

  • Yes, I just promised a redesign due thirteen months from now. Hold me to that, okay, gentle readers?
  • Yeah, this site really is going to be ten years old. That’s twisted. It’s awesome. But it’s still twisted at the same time. The web still feels so new to me that the idea that I’ve had this one solid presence for so long is a little hard to reconcile.
  • Triple yes… it really will take me over a year to actually execute the redesign. While it won’t be as complete an overhaul as the last one (focusing on visual design and UI enhancements) it’s still going to be big enough, and I’m busy enough, that it should take me at least a few weeks of work to get done right. Since I never get “a few weeks” straight to work on my own stuff, thirteen months lead time looks like it might be enough time to piece together the hours I need to get this thing done right.
