Books 33 Quicksilver

Quicksilver (The Baroque Cycle, Vol. 1) by Neal Stephenson. I’ll have to reserve full judgment until next September when the third and final volume of this massive work is out. So far, it’s a dense, multifaceted, solidly written book. If it weren’t 900+ pages long, I’d be chomping at the bit for the next installment. As it stands it’s probably a good thing that I have several months until the next installment. Between the book’s literal weight (and its effect on my back after lugging it around for two weeks) and its figurative weight (in the form of its densely clustered historical, scientific and philosophic themes), I’m a little bit burnt out…
